SETN June 2024 Meeting Notes
The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair – Meagan Boyd as Chairman Monte King was unable to attend.
The motion to open the meeting was made by Meagan Boyd and seconded by an attendee.
Old business – The May 2024 Safety Break was successful.
New business – Upcoming Clay Shoot scheduled for next Thursday.
Self-introductions were made by those in attendance. Meagan then introduced the speaker, Matt Neary with Southern Champion Tray.
Matt Neary from Southern Champion Tray discussed the company's experience with dash cameras. SCC was initially hesitant due to concerns about driver’s quitting and their lack of privacy, the company eventually trialed a few cameras and quickly recognized their benefits, including improved driver training and reduced accident liability and claim payments. They established standards, such as utilizing the outward-facing cameras without audio recording. Following a severe accident in 2023 where the lack of side camera footage forced the company to accept liability, they decided to add side cameras to their tractors. Matt demonstrated several training videos and reviewed the pros and cons of various camera brands, emphasizing the importance of proper placement for both forward-facing and side cameras.
The venue was very conducive to the meeting and those in attendance seemed receptive to future meetings at Chattanooga State.
Motion to close the meeting was made by Meagan Boyd and seconded by an attendee.
Respectfully submitted,
Antonette Davis
