Erica begins – introduces Ricardo Fuentes with Amazon Logistics who will be covering the topic of Cargo Theft & Security

• Who’s responsible for the loss?
  • It spans across the manufacturer, the transporter, etc.
    
    
• 3 common types of theft:
  • Straight cargo theft
  • Common pilferage
  • Strategic cargo theft
    
    
• Tips for preventing cargo theft
  • Eliminate stops within 300 miles of origin sites
  • Implement red zones / geofences
  • Increase security personnel in warehouses
  • Increase digital security
    • Geodata installed in trucks/trailers, load alerts/triggers
  • Use physical security devices
    • Air cuff lucks, landing gear locks, kingpin, etc.
  • Be open about your security
    • Actively monitor shipments and storage areas
  • Be vigilant on holidays.
  • Work with 3^rd party  logistics (3PL) company
